How to Take a Great Lip Photo
Natural light, flattering angles, and honest photos that show your real smile — for LipX submissions and beyond.
Want your lips to look their best on camera — for a LipX submission or anywhere? It's mostly light.
1. Face a window
- Soft natural daylight, facing you, is the most flattering light ever invented. Free, too.
- Avoid overhead lighting (harsh shadows) and direct flash (washes out dimension).
2. Angle slightly
- Camera at or just above eye level, chin tilted a touch down. Relax your mouth — a soft, natural smile beats a forced pout.
3. Keep it honest
- LipX celebrates real lips. Heavy filters and reshaping defeat the point — and the community can tell.
- Crop to lips and smile only, per our submission rules.
4. Background matters
- Plain, uncluttered background. The lips are the subject — give them the stage.
The honest takeaway: window light + relaxed smile + no reshaping. That's the whole secret.
